SCOUTS FEDERATION OF MALAYSIA

The Boy's Scout Movement started in England in 1907, and it reached this country in 1910 with only 30 members to begin with it. It was known as Persekutuan Budak-Budak Pengakap Tanah Melayu (The Boy's Scouts Association of the Malay State) and it was administered directly from Great Britain.

After the Second World War, it split into The Boys Scouts Association of Singapore and the Boys Scouts Association of Malaya. With this split, the State and the District Boys' Scouts Association came into existence which were responsible ti form scouts' groups of their own.

When Malaya achieved its independence on 31st August 1957, the administration of the movement came under of the Boys' Scouts Association of Malaya. On 1st September 1957, it obtained the full membership of the world scouts.

When Malaysian was formed this association became known as the Federation of Boys' Scouts Malaysia comprising of Singapore, Sabah, Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia. When Singapore separated from Malaysia in 1965, the Singapore Association also left. The Federation was then registered under Act of Parliament No: 38 of 1968 with amendments under Act No: 143 of 1974.

OBJECTIVES
The main princple of scouts movement is to instil the spirit of mutual understanding, harmony and peace among people based on the principles of scouting.

It is also the aim of this movement to would the youth through :
    a) Instilling the spirit of discipline, knowledge and self-help.
    b) Instilling the spirit of loyalty and consideration for others.
    c) Teaching various skills useful to them and society.
    d) Promoting physical and mental development.

PROGRAMME
a) Leadership Training Course.
b) Skill Training Course.
c) Jamborees.
d) Social Services.
e) Blood Donation.
f) Anti-Drug Abuse Activities.
g) Economic Activities.
h) International Relation.

FOOTPRINT
The footprints were made on 28th November 1934 by the late Lord Baden - Powell of Gilwell, Chief Scouts of the world when he visited castle camp, Kuala Lumpur and opened " B-P Hut " there and planted a Bayan tree. These footprints have been preempted to the progress that scouting has made in the Federation of Malaya since B-P visited the country.
