SARAWAK UNITED NATIONAL YOUTH ORGANISATION (SABERKAS)

BRIEF HISTORY
The Sarawak United National Youth Organisation was formed on 22nd July 1972 and it was officially launched on 31st March 1973 at Tepian Gelanggang, Jalan Datuk Ong Kee Hui, Kuching.

The formation of SABERKAS or The Sarawak United National Youth Organisation was the result of the agreement between three main youth organisation in Sarawak namely Gabungan Kelab-Kelab Melayu Sarawak, Majlis Belia Sarawak and Kelab-Kelab Belia Bidayuh. On 30th July 1973, are more youth organisation in Sarawak namely 4B Youth Club Organisation joined SABERKAS. Since the formation of SABERKAS, many good changes have taken place and the response by the local youth was very encouraging. The total membership of SABERKAS now is 80,000 youth of various races throughout the country.

OBJECTIVES
SABERKAS was formed with the following objectives.

1. To visit the spirit of service and loyalty towards Malaysia amongst its members.

2. To instill the spirit of co-operation, mental and physical health for the good of the members and the society.

3. To promote the spirit of understanding and friendship among its members and the society.

4. To encourage active participation of members in civic activities and nation building.
