MINISTRY OF YOUTH AND SPORTS MALAYSIA
BRIEF HISTORY
The Ministry of Youth and Sport is given the responsibility to implement government policy on youth and sports.
The history of the formation of the Ministry started with the formation of Youth Division in the Ministry of Welfare Services in 1953. After the achievement of independent in 1957, the Cultural Division was set up in the Ministry of information and Broadcasting.
In view of the importance of the role of youth and culture in the context of nation building, the Government decided to combine these two elements under one Ministry known as the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports which was formed in May 1984.
On 20 May 1987, the Cultural Division was transferred to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Therefore, this Ministry is now known as the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
OBJECTIVES
The main objective of Ministry Of Youth and Sport is:
“To develop a society of youths that are united, disciplined and highly moral, progressively active in the economic and social fields and healthy and active for the development of national unity.”
