MALACCA STATE YOUTH COUNCIL
BRIEF HISTORY
The Melaka State Youth Council was apex youth body to be formed in Melaka to co-ordinate the various youth organisations in the State. Due to leadership struggle, this body was dissolved in 1975. In its place, the Council of Melaka Youth Organisations was officially formed on 26th February 1976.
The original leadership of MGBM consisted of the Rt. Hon'ble Datuk Setia Haji Ghani Ali as the Chairman, the State Secretary YB Datuk Abu Mansor Haji Hassan as the Deputy Chairman, the District Officer of Melaka Tengah, Encik Abdul Aziz Ariffin, the District Officer of Alor Gajah, Encik Adnan Abd. Rahman, the Distirct Officer of Jasin, Encik Mohd. Nor Darus, Encik V. Sivaraman and Encik C Vonis were elected as the Vice Chairman. Encik Jaafar Mohd. Lasim was elected as the Honorary Secretary while Encik S. Sivapakiam as the Honorary Treasurer.
Tehe Executive Committee consisted of Encik Tee Ann Chuan, Encik Muhamad Hussein, Encik Ramli Abd. Rahim, Encik A. Veerasamy, Encik Hamzah Haji Bajuri, Puan Mariam Ramli, Encik Mohd. Ali Mohd. Rustam dan Cik Narimah Abu Bakar.
OBJECTIVES
1. To uphold and strengthen the principles of volunteerism in youth.
2. To dessiminate information on the techniques and activities of youth work.
3. To forward to the Government, Corporations and other relevant agencies ideas and recommendation pertaining to yputh matters.
4. To forget relationship with other Councils, national and international youth organisations.
5. To promote international respect, understanding among races, corporation and harmony through youth activities.
6. To assist in the developing of youth activities with close corporation of voluntary youth organisation.
7. To assist in the formation of new youth associations in order to further promote youth activities.
8. To sponsor and promote the spirit of spiritual, physical and educational development among the youth.
