KELANTAN STATE YOUTH COUNCIL
BRIEF HISTORY
The speech competition held in conjuction with the celebration of Youth Week in the Malay Peninsular has attracted the attention of the public where Tunku Zainab Tunku Zakaria, the Social Welfare Officerof Kelantan managed to bring together the leaders of the Malaysian Youth Council and leaders of Kelantan Youth Organisation. As a result, a resolution to from the State Youth Council of Kelantan was made in November 1953 and the formation of the Council took place in February 1954.
From then on, the Kelantan Youth Council was successful in assisting the Malaysian Youth Council in organising various programmes such as Youth Week Celebration, attending the AGM of MBM, siting on MBM Executive Committee (1955/56) and being officially by the Department of Social Welfare of Kelantan as its representative in MBM.
When MBM restructed its organisation, MBK was also restructed its organisation on October 1962, MBK was also restructed accordingly and on March 1969 it was officially registered, and it became active along with MBM. When MBM revised its constitution in 1976, MBk became the affiliate member of MBM.
OBJECTIVES
As co-ordinating body for youth organisation in the State of Kelantan, MBK has the following objectives: -
1. To promote and encourage youthmovement through such activities as research, training and to provide enough facilities for the good of youth in the State of Kelantan.
2. To plan and co-ordinate youth projects and activities in the State of Kelantan.
3. To consider and monitor youth activities that can bring benefit to the youth and society.
4. To seek a representation in any board, council, committee or any other bodies formed by the government, quasi-government bodies or any other institution.
5. To offer its opinion and stand to the government, State Youth Consultative Council, State Corporation and any other bodies on any matters relaterd to youth.
6. To encourage the active participation of youth of allraces, private sectors and professional bodies for the success of youth movement in the State of Kelantan.
7. To acquire and to administer fund and properties obtained from the government, foundations, individuals and other sources to achieve the objectives of MBK.
8. Through consultation, to assist in the formation of new youth association in order to further enhance the youth movement in the State.
