A BABA LIVING ROOM

Situated behind carved panel doors lies the Baba living room. The setting is one of tranquillity save for the rhythmical ‘Dondang Sayang’ record being played on the hand-cranked gramophone. The chatter of women folks could be detected coming from the back room, discussing the choice of material for the becoming wedding.

The Baba’s love for the finer things is exemplified in this room. The furniture, carved and plain, with or without inlaid, mother of pearl, reflects the lifestyle of that era.
