DATUK HAJI TALIB BIN KARIM
(6 OCTOBER 1967 – 31 JULY 1972)
Datuk Haji Talib was the third chief minister of Malacca. He sworn in an oath as Melaka Chief Minister on October 6, 1967 and served until July 31, 1972. Among his big plans was to build a water dam in Machap Umbu cultivated through money loans from Bank Asia to ensure clean water supply for the people of Melaka. A large-scale cattle breeding project on Pulau Besar, Malacca is also implemented to mobilize the people's economy. He also opened the free port in Banda Hilir and established a Malay village in Kuala Sungai Baru. Datuk Haji Talib then plans to implement several projects to boost the people's economy, unfortunately he had to face difficult obstacles during his administration. In the event that finally on July 31, 1972, Datuk Haji Talib resigned as Chief Minister of Malacca.
