GALLERY OF THE CHIEF MINISTER OF MELAKA
BACKGROUND
The building known as Seri Bendahara and located on Bukit Peringgit was built in the British era around the 1950s. Its original function was as a residential house consisting of a main room, several rooms, an office space, a kitchen, a guard house and a multipurpose field. The addition of the large hall (pavillion) was carried out in 1968. This building underwent many renovations and renovations in August 1996 when Melaka was under the leadership of Y.A.B Datuk Seri Haji Md. Zain Bin Abdul Ghani, the seventh Chief Minister of Melaka.
This building has been used as the official residence of the Chief Minister of Melaka since the administration of Y.A.B Datuk Setia haji Abdul Ghani Bin Ali (1 August 1972- 10 July 1978) until 2005. It is a meeting place for the state's main leaders and the people, apart from receiving visits and visits from official guests from home and abroad.
After the construction of the Seri Bendahara as the official residence of the new Chief Minister of Melaka in Ayer Keroh, Melaka in 2005, the Seri Bendahara building in Bukit Peringgit was renovated and turned into the Melaka Chief Minister Gallery which displays various information and collections belonging to the previous and current Chief Ministers of Melaka.
OBJECTIVES
- To recall the services and contributions of the Chief Ministers of Melaka since independence until now.
- To make this gallery a center for research and dissemination of information about the institution of the Chief Minister of Melaka.
- To raise awareness among all levels of society from within and outside the country about the role of a Chief Minister in the context of developing the state of Melaka.
ROLES
- Displaying all the contributions of each Chief Minister in leading the development of Melaka to serve as an example and lesson for future generations.
- Assisting the State Government in promoting Melaka as a tourist destination.
