YOUNG BUDDHIST ASSOCIATION OF MALAYSIA

BRIEF HISTORY
The Young Buddhist Association of Malaysia (YBAM) was formed in 1970 following the resolution made at the First National Buddhist Youth Leadership Seminar held at the University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur.

Since the inception of YBAM almost all the existing Buddhist Youth groups have sought affiliation with it. Many new groups have been encouraged to form throughout Malaysia from Kangar to Kuching to join in the missionary efforts of YBAM. YBAM is now recognised by the government as the representative organisation of Buddhist Youth and has been invited for consultation with the gevernment on several occassions.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
1. To be the National Organisation of all Buddhist Youths in Malaysia.

2. To encourage, foster and develop the practice of the Teaching of the Lord Buddha among youths.

3. To co-ordinate the religious, social and recreational activities of Buddhist youths through its member organisations.

4. To provide leadership training for Buddhist youths.

5. To further all other interests of Buddhist youth as may be decided upon at a National Council Meeting.
