SELANGOR STATE YOUTH COUNCIL

BRIEF HISTORY
The effort to form the Selangor State Youth Council when youth representatives attended a metting on 23rd July 1948 at Victoria Instutution for the formation of the Youth Council of Malaya (temporary). The Selangor State Youth Council attended the first AGM of the Youth Council of Malaya and was together responsible in the formation of the first MBM committee.

With the innitiative taken by Y. Bhg. Datin Saadiah Sardon, the Selangor State Youth was registered as the State branch of the Malayan Yputh Council when the Malayan Youth Council was re-registered as Malaysian Youth Council with its updated constitution on 18th June 1968, the MBM Selangor Branch followed suit and re-regestered itself on 31st January 1970 as a result of a meeting held at Dewan Belia Kampung Pandan, Kuala Lumpur. From that day on the district branches began to be formed.

At a special General Meeting held on 27th May 1973, the affiliate associations and the district branches decided to replaced the MBS as the State Branch of mBM with Selangor State Youth Council with its own constitution and autonomy in line with its function as a co-ordinating body foe all youth associations in state. This change took effect from 10th January 1974.

OBJECTIVES
1. To uphold and strengthen the principle of volunteerism in youth work.

2. To spread information and knowledge on the technique of youth work.

3. To inform the Government, Quasi-Government Agencies and other relevant bodies regarding uouth work.

4. To promote racial understanding cooperation and harmony through youth activities.

5. To assist in the promoting of youth activities and to promote close co-operation among member association.

6. To assist in the formation of new clubs.

7. To encourage physical and mental development among members.

8. To work closely with the State Government and other relevant agencies and departments in the State in all matters good for the nation.

9. To sterngthen the financial position of yhe Council through various relevant activities such as proper development, industries and other.
