SELANGOR STATE YOUTH COUNCIL
BRIEF HISTORY
In the beginning this council was part of the Selangor State youth Council. When the National Youth Organisations formed their branches in the Federal Territory, their leaders began to think of forming their own apex body in order to be more free and active in organising their activities.
With this intention in mind, the youth leaders in the Federal Territory with the cooperation of the Malaysia Youth Council and Ministry of Youth and Sports got together several times to discuss this matter of length. Finally they managed to over all the problem and obstacles and formed this apex body called the Federal Territory Youth whice was officially registered in 1987.
POLICY AND AIMS
The council will always uphold the principles of the National Youth Policy.
As the consultative and coordinating body for youth in the Federal Territory, its aims are: -
1. To encourage, expand and promote youth activities in the fields of research, training, data collection, to represent the voice and aspiration of youth and to provide facilities for the development of youth in the Federal Territory.
2. To plan and co-ordinate all efforts to promote solidarity, national integration ang citizecship.
3. To resresent the youth in all relevant bodies formed by the Government, Quasi-Government bodies, or other institutions, government and non-governmental.
4. To foeward the views and recommendations to the Government, Oua-Government agencies and other relevant bodies including the mass media on matters pertaining to youth & society.
5. To encougrage the participation and involvement all races, governments institutions, private sectors, professional bodies and others in youth activities in the Federal Territory.
6. To seek and administer the fund and property obtained from Government agencies, foundations, individuals and other sources to achieve the aims and objectives of the council.
